Citizenship by investment
Citizenship by investment is the acquisition of citizenship by naturalisation through investment and/or donation according to the law of the land in question (“CBI”).
CBI schemes are recent schemes. They were developed to provide for the countries operating them with revenue and sometimes HR (human resource) skills. These new schemes have often taken the place of the older schemes. Under the older shcemes it took perhaps ten to twenty years to achieve citizenship. The process and for most CBI schemes is, by contrast, faster, more efficient and more reliable. The CBI schemes come with many advantages over the older schemes and are also more designed to benefit both host country and applicant.
